About this meeting
Food and body concerns can follow you everywhere: into plans with friends, getting dressed, work, relationships, and the quiet moments when you wish you could think about something else. It’s exhausting to have so much of your life taken up by something other people may barely understand. Fed Up is an online peer support group for adults living with eating disorders or disordered eating. We talk honestly about food anxiety, body image, shame, setbacks, and the mixed feelings that can come with recovery. We also talk about what we want back: friendships, interests, spontaneity, and time spent thinking about something other than food or our bodies. Being fed up doesn’t mean you know what comes next. You can want things to change and still feel scared, skeptical, or worn out by the effort. You might be seeking support for the first time, in treatment, returning after a setback, or sustaining your recovery. You don’t have to wait for things to get worse to seek support. There’s room here for frustration, humor, and hope… even when you’re having trouble finding that hope yourself. USD $4.50 per meeting, paid individually. Weekly attendance totals USD $18 in a four-meeting month.

About the host
My brain's… a lot. If yours is too, you're in good company! At my core, I'm a punkish creative & introspective nerd type. Hence why I get along with misfits so well. But I've spent most of my life feeling out of step—too much, not enough, and under a dark cloud I couldn't name. In my 30s I discovered I'm autistic with a side helping of ADHD. That was on top of a long history of anxiety, anorexia, trauma, and depression telling me I'm garbage. Footnote: I'm not, and you're probably not either. Life's thrown me its share of UGH and I've spent a lot of time learning to stop hating my brain. Still kind of a love/hate relationship, actually. But progress is progress. On paper, I’m a Certified Peer Support Specialist with ongoing training and all that. In practice, I’m just someone who’s been through a lot of the same mental health mess and sits in it with you.
Motivation for help
I needed support once, and no one was there. I never want anyone to feel as alone as I was. That's it. I want to shrink down the scariness we all face and remind people they're not as isolated in those feelings as they think. All the years I lost to depression and self-destruction—I can't get those back. But I can make them mean something by showing up for people going through their own version of it. I'm in your corner. Because, damn, somebody has to be.
