About Makayla Danielle

Hi everyone! I am a trained Peer Support Specialist living with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I was trained in Los Angeles by Project Return Peer Support Network. My training included certifications in Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, and Group Facilitation. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD as mentioned above. I am living, working, and recovering with my diagnosis every day. I am here to support you in whatever ways you need, whether that be being a listening ear or sharing a laugh to help lighten your day. I am eager to meet and connect with you!

My Recovery Story

After years of being in denial, I finally reached out for help and it has helped me learn how to navigate life with my diagnosis. I have worked with my therapist and my support system to learn how to function in society and overcome any obstacles that come my way. I now work as a case manager and go to school full time to become a counselor. I have utilized coping skills and self-care strategies to help me overcome even the darkest of days. I am ready to use my story to help others see that it can and it will get better.

My Motivation To Help

What motivates me to be a peer supporter is living through this journey myself. This journey to recovery can be difficult, especially if you don't have a support system around you. Sometimes all you need is someone to listen, I am all ears! Asking for help is hard, but when you're ready, just know this space is safe and ready for your story when you're ready to share it.
