About this meeting
Join us for our THRIVE Weekly meeting. We will meet every Wednesday for 90 minutes to build community, support one another, and talk about topics that will help us continue our individual healing journeys. This is a SAFE space to gather with others who face challenges and to support & encourage one another along the path. Each weekly meeting will have an explanation of how to connect directly with me on HeyPeers, an opening check-in with an opportunity for each participant to share (if you want to), topic content and discussion questions, and a closing affirmation. I hope to see you there! Documents available to you during the meeting include group guidelines, crisis resources, my presentation slides, and a list of sources (if applicable) for the topic content.
About the host
I am a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in the state of Florida. I have a long history of service in the teaching profession, as well as interests in mental health, community organizing, and activism. I work hard at my recovery from mental health struggles. I am a survivor of intimate partner violence and passionate about supporting others as they break the cycle and rebuild their lives. I enjoy providing support and resources on many topics and find the most value can be generated when we are all learning from one another's life experiences. We all have wisdom in specific areas of life. Sharing that wisdom and support with each other is what it's all about. I am a proud and active ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, dedicated to providing a culturally conscious space that recognizes each human as unique and beautiful, and sensitive to the myriad needs of individual Hey Peers community members. Fostering and protecting the emotional safety of the spaces I provide is of utmost importance.
Motivation for help
After a mental health crisis that brought my life to a halt, I found peer support and new recovery tools that enabled me to want to live again. I have since changed my primary goal in life from surviving my mental illness to thriving as my authentic self. I am eager to help others through whichever part of the journey they are on at this time.
