LGBTQIA2S+ with Ashley

Probably a great space for lots of people. Had no idea what to expect just looked forward to hearing from others about their art etc. Would have been helpful to have a description or heads up ahead of time or even upon logging in as a new person on how the group typically operates. Dealing with the embarrassment of talking much more than I think is usual at first. Got a good input to mute so it worked out. Lead much more like a twitch stream format with leader responding to text chats as opposed to conversation or even verbal prompts. I get it though I think? Anyway, won't ruin my day but I'd love to find a space to chat AND color because my life is so lonely.

Wow! Today was a great peer group. I think I counted three, maybe four first-timers, and there were three people who have attended before, and of those three, two, as well as I, attend regularly. I shall not deny, this group, its focus, and Ashley have spoiled me for other peer groups, although I think it would be a good idea for me to explore other groups, but so glad I was able to attend today; originally, I was unable to do so, and then my schedule changed.

I wish Ashley had done a few things to make our session go smoothly: 1) I wish she had set the tone for the meeting- how group sessions work, expectations for behavior, and any rules we needed to follow. I appreciate Ashley volunteering her time to create a supportive space online for ND folks and that she prepared materials in the event no one wanted help on a particular thing. 2) I wish she had taken control of the meeting sooner when someone was disruptive instead of letting this person go on, disrupt the group, and take up valuable time. Had she set behavior expectations, I think she could have acted more quickly. She could have also redirected this person to the chat and told him to voice his concerns there so she could address his concerns without compromising the group. I appreciate the the fact she is volunteering her time to create an online space for ND people and that she had prepared materials in case no one needed help tackling a certain issue.
