About this meeting
The Living with Chronic Pain Support Group is a general support group for those living with chronic pain. This group will offer an opportunity to discuss the challenges of living with chronic pain and learn non-medication tools for coping. This program is open to adults anywhere who live with chronic pain related to their chronic illness. This group meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10-11am PST / 1-2pm EST and is facilitated by Alison Kennedy, MSW, LSWAIC. *If you register and then cannot attend, please remove your registration to free up the space for another participant.

About the host
I grew up in the Hudson Valley in New York, loving hiking and being out in nature. It was 25 years ago when I became sick with Lyme disease. I have had ongoing symptoms from Lyme disease, and have recently had complications from Covid. I am also the parent of a child with a chronic condition. My personal experiences and work as a healthcare professional have added to my passion to be a greater advocate for families and individuals with chronic conditions. I am grateful for this opportunity to join The Center for Chronic Illness as an MSW to support the chronic illness community.

Today wasn't my best experience. This meeting was totally dominated by a small number of people who had no problem taking up all of the discussion time without giving a second thought to everyone else in the group. Being a fly on the wall isn't support, and I only wished participants would be more considerate about "sharing the air" because most people didn't even get to check in. I appreciate Alison making space for all of us, but don't appreciate the participants who dominated the discussion today

Being able to get into this meeting today was divine intervention, because I really needed to be in community with others who understand what chronic pain does to my overall wellbeing and it’s really been a struggle. It felt so good being among fellow peers to support one another because I know that they truly understand what it feels like living with chronic pain 24/7. Thank you Allison for being such a kind, supportive and compassionate host😇💖
