About the host
I am a female Air Force veteran who has been out of the military for ten years. During this period, I have actively worked towards my mental health recovery. Some of my hobbies are making art, teaching yoga, and pursuing my studies. I live with my wife, Becky, and our two cats, Pretzel and Princess Dax. Throughout my journey of mental health recovery, I have undergone various therapeutic modalities as a client. Practicing yoga, spending time with loved ones, maintaining a balanced diet, and embracing spirituality have been essential for my healing process. For many years, I believed staying silent and invisible was the only way to keep myself safe. However, I later realized that this was a lie. I now want to help others break free from this silence and embark on their journey towards wholeness.
Motivation for help
I have spent years believing that I had to be silent and invisible to be safe. It took years for me to recognize that as a lie. I want to help guide others out of silence.

Randi was superb in facilitating the group. And her responses to people's shares and the topics was really knowledgeable, cogent, and caring and understanding. I appreciated her calm presence, tone of voice, and how she included everyone. Thank you Randi. I feel stronger in my self right now. I also carry all the people in the group in my heart and that circle of energy I hope I can retain it and remember it as I go on in the day and ongoing. It strikes me now that is support in ac tion.

Tim is great. I a.ways look forward to being in his group.

Tim is an excellent facilitator and listener. Of particular note, he began the meeting (after check-ins) by prioritizing anyone in crisis or special need, in order to give them the opportunity to speak first, should they choose. He also circled back specifically to attendees who checked in as struggling, again to allow them time to speak. Many facilitators should take a lesson from Tim's approach, as too often those in the most pain sit in silence and feel invisible.

hi. I signed up an hour before - unfortunately it doesn't appear I was able to connect with the host, Randi Michele - so I was the only one in the meeting.I hope she got the message in time. I would be available later today for a reschedule. terryann2345@gmail.com Thank you. Is there a way to remove the rating completely? We weren't apparently able o connect on short (an hour's notice) I am open to either a reschedule or a refund.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance logo
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is the leading peer-focused national organization focused on depression and bipolar disorder. DBSA's peer-based, wellness-oriented, and empowering services and resources are available when people need them, where they need them, and how they need to receive them. This includes online and local support groups, audio and video casts, and printed materials distributed by DBSA, our chapters, and mental health care facilities across America.

DBSA online support groups provide people living with depression and bipolar disorder a place to share experiences, discuss coping skills, and offer hope to one another. DBSA support groups are peer-led, meaning they are facilitated by someone living with a mood disorder who has been trained and certified to guide others on their journey.

DBSA online support group meetings are peer-based self-help groups. In the DBSA context, a peer is a person with a mood disorder. Another distinction of peer is that we are not professionals - physicians and other mental health providers. We are here to assist, encourage, and enableĀ each other to help ourselves.

Please note that the schedule for DBSA support group meetings on HeyPeers has been updated for 2024. To see all available meetings through DBSA, or to find alternatives if you are waitlisted for a group, visitĀ https://www.dbsalliance.org/support/chapters-and-support-groups/.
