About this meeting
Welcome to the Depression Recovery Group for Women! This is the same group that was being held at Support Group Central, facilitated by Certified Peer Specialists Valerie and Diana. It's a place for us to come together, support each other, and learn about what we can do to improve the quality of our lives. It is a confidential place where we can meet, talk, and learn with others who are on a similar journey of healing and recovery. We will be covering topics from Depression Recovery material, focusing on the things that are most important to you as a participant.

About the host
I am a fellow peer who has struggled with mental illness, Eating disorder, weight management, addiction, PTSD, and domestic violence. I have been in recovery for 14 years and know that having experienced life can be a valuable tool. I offer a listening ear without judgement and will encourage you in recovery and wellness. I have a good understanding about what it takes to push past the darkness to be able to fully focus on recovery. Working at self-care in any form is hard, and we all deserve to love ourselves. I have struggled with intense emotions that destroyed many positive things in my life. I have worked to better myself and develop the tools to continue to improve in life. I am compassionate and caring person with a heartfelt desire to help those struggling. I became a peer support specialist to use my experience to help others develop their own tools. I am not textbook in what I do, and I believe that everyone is unique and should never be put in a box. Each journey is different with some similar scenes. Recovery is a lifelong journey and I feel that one of the most important parts of recovery is knowing you are not alone. I am not ashamed of my story. Please join me in any of my groups or individual sessions to see if I would be a good fit to help you in your journey.
Motivation for help
I struggled with anxiety, depression, PTSD and suicidal ideation from a very young age. After over a 20 year battle with several suicide attempts, addiction and an eating disorder I decided I was still here for a reason. That reason was to help others. My path out of darkness opened the door for me to not only live life to the fullest but to love life and myself. My motivation to become a Peer is to help others find their light so they can experience the beauty of what they have to offer.
